Dana Schuler Drummond

Dana Schuler Drummond, MA, CFRE, GPC is the owner of Sharpshooter Communications, LLC, a freelance public relations and grant-seeking firm. She’s the first person in Oklahoma to earn duel certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and a Grant Professional Certified (GPC).

With more than 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit world, Dana writes millions of dollars in grants each year – from small requests for special projects to major multi-year federal proposals. She also helps clients with strategic communications efforts and fundraising research.

A native Tulsan, Dana earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism at Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts degree in mass communications at the University of Oklahoma. Most of her early career was spent working at universities, where she honed her administrative, marketing, grant writing, event planning and fund development skills.

The name Sharpshooter Communications was borne of Dana’s experiences as a world-class competitive rifle shooter. In her youth, she won several national titles, set a national record and was a member of the Olympic Development Team. Sharpshooter also describes Dana’s fundraising and communications philosophy – creating a precise message aimed at a specific target.

Sharpshooter serves several nonprofit, higher education and business clients, providing a variety of grant-writing, strategic planning and public relations functions. Dana thinks the grant-writing process is “fun” and enjoys helping visionary nonprofit leaders make their dreams come true.

Dana has served on the board of directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Eastern Oklahoma and is a member of the Grant Professionals Association. She also teaches classes on nonprofit management and fundraising at Oklahoma State University.
